We’re having a healthy baby! This was the most important thing we found out at our 20-week ultrasound. Second, I would like to tell you that we both slept good on Sunday night! Marcus slept good because the Packers won and I slept good knowing I saw alligators! Wondering what’s up with alligators? Find out here. On Monday morning, I woke up with butterflies – a bit of anxiety still lingering but mostly excitement filled my body. I was wide awake and wired; let’s go! My morning flew by and I couldn’t wait to get super-ready for the day. Freshly washed and curled hair, makeup with eyeliner and a new pair of Athleta leggings: I know when I look good, I feel good and confident! Hey little baby, Mama is ready to celebrate the halfway marker!

When I finally saw Tevi I said, “Yo, how you doing today? You excited or what?” His reply, “Getting there!”

Off we went!

When my name was called in the waiting room, I was immediately even more excited because it was our favorite ultrasound tech. She was the same one we had for Ruby’s 20-week scan and for the first appointment with this pregnancy. She’s a mom, you can tell, because her voice is full of compassion, excitement and she talks a lot. People who talk a lot are the best! I told her right away how nervous we were leading up to this appointment. I said, “This room is filled with unpredictable news for us.” She didn’t disagree. She provided comfort and said, “Let’s get going and see this healthy baby!

Right way, I asked, “Heartbeat?” She said, “Yes, sounds perfect!” Me, “Four chambers?” Her, “Yes, 4 chambers that look good, with both the valves crossing.” Check! Me, “Are the hands opening?” Her, “Yes, look at those hands stretching.” Check! Her, “Let’s go right to the brain”……pause, then with excitement she said, “Look guys, no cysts.” Me, “OMG, I am so happy I could cry!” Her, “We are going to check out everything.” She went on to scan the baby head-to-toe, measuring away. Her words were coming quick: “Great, perfect, normal, measuring great.” My smile was from ear-to-ear and I kept looking over at Marcus with excitement.

Then she asked, “Do you want to find out what gender baby is?” Me “Yes, we do!”

Right after we found out! Daddy had no time for a pic!

“Ok, guys, I think I’ve got it; do you see what I see?” Then she typed it out, “It’s a BOY!” We were both in shock, we had been almost certain it was another girl. I hugged the ultrasound tech, ran to the bathroom and then gave Tevi a big, old hug! We have a healthy baby and it’s a boy!!! Could this day get any better?!!!

I see a baby with a huge nose or dumbo.

We left that room feeling so much relief. A quick visit with our midwife to check weight, blood pressure and questions, then she was off to deliver another baby and we were ready to celebrate over lunch!! Baby boy Tevis is weighing in at about 12 ounces, the size of a beer can, while Mama is up 15 pounds. During our lunch date, we rattled off some boy names, talked about how good we are going to sleep and smiled! Then I headed off to the mall to buy something blue and get goodie bags made to surprise the fam!

Thank you for all the positive vibes and love you’ve sent over the past few months! We are grateful for the support and excited for the next 19 weeks ahead! More baby updates, bump pictures and details ahead as I go from Girl Mom to Boy Mom! Oh, Boy!
