I just woke up from a great dream: I was sitting on a beach in a hot bikini, sipping my third margarita, my face felt warm and my boot was swaying while a great band was jamming out. I didn’t want to get off the couch, but I was craving a “Mocha Monkey Knock-Off Bar” and remembered my to-do list was a mile long. I only had two more hours of daycare and I had told myself earlier that I was going to get a blog post together before my chiropractic appointment. Go Mama Go.

I can’t wait to turn that hot beach dream into a reality – next winter I will! Or this summer! Give me pontoon days, cannon balls, power walks and fun ahead! I’m really excited, so excited I bet I haven’t slept four hours straight in months. Pregnancy insomnia is my biggest complaint – I toss and turn, roll around, twist and untwist, slam OJ at 2 a.m., then move to the couch … but nothing helps. I spend hours awake “day dreaming” at night until my alarm buzzes at 4:30 a.m. Surprisingly, I’m not that tired until about 10 a.m. – and then zombie Megan arrives. I’ve been trying to squeeze in a daily meditation that turns into a nap. And Marcus usually says “Go nap!” Thank God for that. A newborn shouldn’t be a problem for me this time around because sleep is already a thing of the past! Plus, there are so many perks coming it’s hard to relax:

1. A new baby! How exciting! I can’t wait to meet this cutie! We did a 3D ultra sound a few weeks ago and they could see hair! Do you think he’ll have hair and if so what color??

2. Margaritas – I will be drinking margaritas on the first Saturday home from the hospital while pretending I’m somewhere tropical! (Text me to join!)

3. I can once again sleep like Snow White, on my back! Even if it’s for short intervals.

4. Prosecco, sushi, red wine, IPA’s … #pumpanddump

5. More energy because I’m not preggo! I might need naps but trust me, my energy will be back (hopefully) and chasing two kids sounds fun.

Plus, things are propelling forward with the new SIU studio! I’ve been brainstorming and manifesting my dream studio. Stay tuned: next week I’ll share more details about my vision and why you will want to be part of our 2020 SIU Crew!

Awaken & Rise (click here to find out more) is going strong. I’m reading another amazing book recommended by the group. Buy it here! It is titled “The Illusion of Money!” I’m only on chapter four or five, but it comes with exercises to do and I’m actually doing them! So, slow and steady is the theme of my current life.

Pregnancy fitness is going well. I’ve managed to keep up with five steady workouts per week. I’m still teaching several days per week and paying my body lots of gratitude for being so strong. Self-care has been great, as I’ve been getting prenatal massages, acupuncture, adjustments, doing nightly stretching and spending time alone. I’m looking forward to shaping my Revenge Body with high impact moves, chest-down burpees, sprints and tuck jumps! It’s a few months away but a girl can dream!

Mom Boss Inc. is off to a great start! I’ve shipped shirts to California. I went on a blind date. I’ve met new friends and collaborations are in the works. We are propelling forward with our goal of 1,000 followers on IG – don’t forget to click and follow! Stay tuned for our next release. Mom Life Series is coming over my maternity leave. (P.S., Business owners don’t really get a maternity leave, especially when your toddler is home most days!)

If you aren’t following me on IG, then you are missing out on Ruby! She is so fun right now! She’s moving 100 miles per hour, talking like a boss – including a phrase she picked up “Shake yo booty!” I’d like to say she learned that from me, but honestly I haven’t been booty shaking in a while. She ate four hot wings on Monday night, and Marcus and I fell even more in love with her. She’s definitely our co creation!

Lil Boss!

Thanks for tuning in! As promised, here’s the recipe I’ve created and called the Mocha Monkey Flaxseed Bar Knock Off. They have a similar overall taste to MM’s bars but they aren’t the same texture at all. So you will still need to head to Mocha Monkey for your fix if that’s your taste jam! Ruby calls them “KooKies.” These are pretty much my latest obsession in the fridge! Have a great weekend. Keep dreaming!

Ingredients:

1/4 cup raw cashew (not roasted, not salted)

1/4 cup raw peanuts (not roasted, not salted)

1/4 cup raw sunflower seeds (not roasted, not salted)

1/4 unsweetened coconut (shredded)

1/3 cup Gluten Free Oats (or whatever oatmeal you want)

1/3 cup Sesame seeds

3 scoops Vital Proteins **optional- you DON’T have to add this! I like the extra protein.

1 tsp Gray Salt or Sea Salt **optional

1 tsp Vanilla

1/2 cup* or more Natural Peanut Butter

1/2 cup* or more Honey, I use Organic Raw Honey

Directions:

In a food processor or Magic Bullet, grind down cashews, peanuts and oats. Mix together all dry ingredients.

In a pan, warm together Peanut Butter, Honey, Vanilla. Mix the PB and honey mixture into the dry ingredients. (sometimes I’ll add coconut oil to the lube if I am short on PB or Honey)

The mixture should be sticky, if it is dry and crumbly add more PB and honey. Roll into tight balls or pack down into at 9 X 9 pan or baking sheet. PRESS DOWN SUPER FIRM. Then refrigerate.

Add-ins: Chia seed, Flax seed, mini chocolate chips, cut-up dried fruit, cinnamon- the options are endless!

Cut & Enjoy!
